Today, it was a good day.
I began training someone who will be very good when he replaces me (Always have a secession plan otherwise you'll end up stuck)
In training this person, I realized that I have come to cut some corners in my own operational willingness to get the job done right.
So for the last couple days I have been teaching him how to do what we do by the book and to the letter and in doing so teaching myself to do the job right again. (Because pride of ownership should be job one)
I found a way to hack into the Bus PA systems so I could jack my ipod in. It involved tricking our onboard IVLU into thinking it was a space cadet. Easier said than done.
Beds of Nails, resistors, jumpers to kick in the amp, and creative power control. Somewhere in this, there be gold. Or at least copper.
First track played: Donald Fagen. Snowbound. Perfect.
Those of you of a certain age will either fondly recall this guy's influence, or throw a hearty "wut" down.
We are also splitting divisional control between southern and norther facilities. So my coworker will get the south bus barns and I will get north, with each of our trainees pitch hitting when we need to be elsewhere or our roles evolve away from what it is that we do now.
Not bad. Not terrible, at least.

I've spent so much time on New Looks as a kid. It was a 40-minute ride into town, and an hour if you wanted to go to the good mall.
